With Lula as communications specialist for LCMS Eurasia and me now also serving as “area visitor” for Western Europe (in addition to my two other tasks—the Persian Project and teaching at Riga Luther Academy), Lula and I have been sent on several trips this April. One highlight this month was our visit to our new church plant in Rome, Christus Victor Lutheran Church. You may recall that two of our Riga Luther Academy seminarians from Italy—Lorenzo Murrone and Joshua Salas—were ordained there about a year ago. And so, it was time to visit them to see how their ministry is faring. Under the guidance of fellow LCMS missionary Rev. Tyler McMiller, the newly founded Confessional Lutheran Church of Italy is spreading across the peninsula, having established numerous preaching stations. The three pastors take turns regularly visiting these far-flung house churches, bringing them the forgiveness of sins in Word and Sacrament. God willing, these mini congregations will one day be able to move into rented spaces for worship, as Christus Victor in Rome has been able to do. How wonderful to see our Lord in action, as He grows His Church all over Eurasia—also in Italy, which now has the opportunity to experience real Christianity in our day. *** In the meantime, thank you so much for your continued love and support. It is a privilege for Lula and me to serve on your behalf, out here on the front lines.
God bless you all!
Pastor Tiews and Lula
