“Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever!” (1 Chr 16:34). The Lord is doing amazing things among Iranians in Germany and also back in their homeland. Although Iran is officially 98.5% Muslim and its mullah government is infamous for causing political unrest and wars in the Middle East and beyond, there are many indications that as much as one third of the Iranian *population* is secretly Christian. This miracle applies to Iranian immigrant communities in Germany as well, where my missionary colleagues, SELK pastors, and I are privileged to baptize more than 100 Iranians every year. What a bright ray of hope for today’s Germany, where only some 5% of the population has an active Christian faith. In a brand-new development, we are contemplating whether to apply our successful model of reaching out to Iranians in Germany—to other European regions with large Iranian communities. As such, we are looking for LCMS members stateside—ideally of Iranian heritage and Farsi native speakers—who might wish to assist us in this exciting outreach project.
